EVENT BROCHURE – Ashaa Event Brochure

Thank You 2022

As 2022 comes to an end, I would like to thank my great team and all our supporters and donors who helped MaitreePdx’s fulfill its goals for the year. We as a team count our abundant blessings that we could help so many organizations this year and hope we will be able to continue our support for more in the future.

Our volunteer endeavor in US included providing hundreds of sack lunches to Blanchet House throughout the year and warm blankets, sleeping bags, beanies and gloves during winter, Pizza lunch for women and children in Rose Haven Shelter, preparing Welcome Boxes for the foster children in Washington and Clackamas County on behalf of everychildpdx.org and meals for homeless as part of Sonrise Church Outreach program.

Our main fundraiser for the year Sweets for Smiles was a great success and all funds and donations collected were sent to Antyodoy Anath Ashram to build a classroom for the foster children.

In 2022, MaitreePdx associated with two new organizations – Purbasha and Ishwar Sankalpa -NGO. Donations were contributed to Purbasha for building construction of Purbasha Rural Child Education Center in Sundarban Coastal India and to Ishwar Sankalpa for performing cataract operations for the abused, harassed homeless women. MaitreePdx also continued support for Abhilasha and provided donations for warm blankets for the children in winter. Please check out the websites for each of these organizations and read about the amazing work they are doing.

I am thankful and grateful to all for the precious memories that I have created in this journey. I count my blessings to have such a wonderful team of friends who share my enthusiasm and purpose to bring a change in the lives of the less privileged. You all are the bright shining stars in my life! Thank you everyone and wishing you all a joyous, peaceful, happy and healthy 2023 ❤️

Sweets for Smile “Misti Mukh”

The festive season is around the corner and as we all celebrate and create wonderful memories with our near and dear ones, let us not forget the ones who mayn’t be as fortunate.

MaitreePDX is delighted to bring back our successful “Sweets for Smiles” fundraiser. Like the previous year, all proceeds will be used to buy winter clothes for the children at Antyodoy Anath Ashram, an Orphanage for abandoned and destitute children since 1995 at Paunsi, a remote village in Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal state in India. The journey of Antyodoy Anath Ashram is truly a fascinating one. The journey that started about 25 years back in 1995, through the emotional act of a local inhabitant, Sri Balaram Karan, by giving shelter to a hapless child of a nearby locality, has culminated to today’s Antyodoy Anath Ashram, an orphanage per excellence, where a good number of destitute children are being brought up under the watchful eyes of the Ashram management.

The “Sweets Tower” contains 5 authentic Bengali sweets and a savory snack.

These include

  1. Mango Sandesh
  2. Kamola Bhog
  3. BoNde
  4. Malpoa
  5. Rabri
  6. Chirey Bhaja

The order will be ready for collection on Saturday 22nd October, 2022 in the afternoon at Bethany. More details about the address and collection time will follow closer to the event. For more details please reach out to the team personally or email us at maitree.pdx@gmail.com

Happy International Women’s Day from MAITREEPDX.

MAITREEPDX felt very honored and happy to be able to participate at the Women’s Day Celebration organized by NFIA and other non-profit organizations of Portland. Their excitement to present the next generation and expressing their views about Women Empowerment was inspiring and refreshing. Thanks to the next generation for the wonderful presentation.

Oxygen Cylinders

In April, when  India battled unprecedented crisis with the disastrous unfolding of the 2nd wave of the Covid mutant and Kolkata struggled along with the rest of the countryand  facing an oxygen cylinder shortage MaitreePdx teamed up with MUKTI (https://muktiweb.org/about-us/), to provide support to help organize and manufacture oxygen concentrators (cost pp 50,000 INR or 668USD). This would mean giving life and breath in the truest sense of the term. Our friends and patrons joined hands at this critical hour and supported us.MaitreePDX thanks you all for you open heart.

Warm Blankets

MaitreePdx ended the year by donating warm blankets to the sponsored children in the Abhilasha camp. The happiness receiving the educational toys and blankets will bring a smile in anyone’s face! Our work needs to continue so that we can bring more smiles in this world!

Sonrise Church

MaitreePdx team had the privilege to collaborate with Sonrise church and spent a day cooking in their church premises for 75 people. The experience of walking in downtown searching the tents for homeless in Portland downtown and calling them out to hand them packets of food , drinks, fruits and cookies was an eye-opening and heart-rendering experience. It was sad to see the unfortunate fall through the cracks of our society and how much support and love they need from all of us!

Rose Haven

When we could not meet to prepare lunch packets, we sponsored Pizza and Brownies lunch for women and children in Rose Haven Shelter. The joy in their faces and heartfelt Thanks, always inspired us to do more!

Blanchet House

Maitree PDX team spent several Saturday mornings  preparing lunch packets for Blanchet house homeless shelter. It was a fun activity and helped in team bonding. It gave us a reason to meet and a sense of purpose to move us through the dark days of Covid. We made 400 lunch packets and donated sanitizers and bottles of water as required.
